Welcome to my lens guide for the Nikon Nikkor Z-Mount lenses. This is a complete list of lenses that have been built specifically for the new Z Mount full-frame mirrorless cameras, which for now only includes the Nikon Z6 and Z7.
This page will grow as more Z lenses become available from both Nikon and third-parties like Rokinon, Sigma and Tamron. There may not be a Z lens that appeals to your style of shooting right now, but don’t forget that you can still make use of the Nikon FTZ Adapter to mount your existing F-Mount lenses to your new Z6 or Z7.

Nikon Nikkor Z 35mm f/1.8 S
The Nikon Z 35mm f1.8S is a nice prime lens for new Z6 and Z7 owners. The resolution and contrast is very good and even better than from the Zeiss 28mm f1.4 Otus – which is an excellent lens. The lens is light weight and weather sealed, making it a great match for the new Nikon mirrorless camera bodies.
Pros: Small and light, very sharp with great contrast, good flare resistance, low vignetting, fast autofocus, weather sealed.
Cons: Longitudinal colour aberrations present, nervous bokeh.

Nikon Nikkor Z 50mm f/1.8 S
The 50mm shares several similarities to the Z 35mm f/1.8 S with a similar design as well as similar levels of sharpness. A 50mm is often a go-to lens for many photographers, so it’s hardly suprizing that Nikon made this lens one of the first to be available. This lens can do it all. Iconic portraits. Street scenes. Close-ups of food. Interviews. How-to videos and more.
Pros: Sharp across the frame even at wide apertures, minimal chromatic aberration, weather-sealed design, solid build quality, quiet autofocus.
Cons: Heavier and more expensive than the F-Mount 50mm f/1.8.

Nikon Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/4 S
The Nikon Z 24-70mm f4S is really a no-brainer for new Z6 and Z7 owners. Optically it is just as good as the 24-70mm f2.8E VR with a one stop advantage in image stabilization and almost no loCA. It also delivers very usable close-up performance and retains its high contrast even in contra-light situations. Since it is around half the size and weight of the 24-70mm f2.8E VR, it’s a much more portable lens and a great match for the new mirrorless bodies.
Pros: Small and light, very sharp with great contrast, good flare resistance, low vignetting, fast autofocus, weather sealed.
Cons: F/4 aperture not the brightest, some minor edge softness at 70mm.

S-Line: The S-Line is a newly designated grade of NIKKOR Z lenses that adhere to a new benchmark in optical performance, creating new definitions of design principles and quality control. These lenses realize a rendering performance that surpasses that of conventional f/4 standard zoom lenses and f/1.8 wide-angle or standard prime lenses. From maximum aperture, clear and sharp resolution can be achieved as well as beautiful bokeh characteristics.
